NYC Building Code § BC 3306
NYC Building Code § BC 3306 ("Demolition," Chapter 33 of the 2022 Building Code) sets safety requirements for demolition operations, including a safety zone for mechanical exterior demolition using other than handheld devices that must equal at least one-half the height of the building at any stage of demolition (3306.2.2), protection of pedestrians and adjoining property before demolition begins (3306.2), and discontinuance and capping of utility service connections with utility-company certifications filed with the department prior to removal. Site safety manager/coordinator and site safety plan requirements for demolition of a major building are imposed separately under § BC 3310, not § BC 3306.
