OTCR Material Approval

The Office of Technical Certification and Research ("OTCR") is responsible for approving materials pursuant to Article 113 of the New York City Construction Codes and section 83 of the New York City Electrical Code. OTCR prepares and maintains a Schedule of Materials and Equipment, posted on the OTCR webpage of the Department of Buildings' website, that is used to identify third-party tested and/or listed materials on construction documents; a registered design professional must incorporate the Schedule into construction documents and retain third-party certification records for six years after sign-off.
