For NJ-covered persons under N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.1 + analogous state-law requestors (NY judiciary, etc.)

New Jersey’s Daniel’s Law (P.L.2020 c.125 + 2023 amendments) allows certain “covered persons” — active and retired judicial officers, prosecutors, law enforcement officers, child-protective investigators, code enforcement officers, and their immediate family — to request that their home address be removed from public-information sources.

Submit this form to record a removal request. RegWatch will action the request within 10 business days of receipt (N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.1 SLA). We honor analogous requests from NY/CT covered persons under the same SLA where applicable, even when the source statute doesn’t formally extend.

Note: RegWatch does not collect NJ owner names at the source layer — NJ MOD-IV strips them statewide so most NJ-property requests are already structurally honored. This form covers analogous requests for NY (where ACRIS contains owner names) and any RegWatch-cached NJ data that may pre-date the source redaction.

Public-records carve-out

Daniel’s Law applies to commercial publishers and data brokers. We honor it as broadly as state law permits. Some surfaces — public-records databases that we re-index from official agency feeds, where the agency itself publishes the name — may require us to suppress derivative renderings while the source continues to publish. We do not control the source.

Penalties for non-compliance

Daniel’s Law allows a covered person to seek a court order requiring compliance plus damages of $1,000 per violation, plus actual damages, punitive damages, and attorneys’ fees(N.J.S.A. 56:8-166.4(b)). RegWatch takes these requests seriously; the 10-business-day SLA above is non-discretionary.

Not a covered person? General data & removal requests

This form is for legally-covered persons under Daniel’s Law and its state analogs. For everything else, here is how we handle requests:

A factual error — wrong owner, wrong address, an outdated record: we correct it. Use the data-correction form with the property address and what’s wrong. Corrections are typically actioned within 48 hours.
A safety concern without covered-person status (e.g. a survivor of domestic violence or stalking with a protective order): email [email protected]. We review these case by case and can suppress or mask where warranted.
“Remove my property from your site” (public records) — we generally decline. The property facts we publish come from public government records (deeds, tax rolls, permits, violations) that the agencies themselves make public; republishing lawfully-obtained public records is protected, and there is no U.S. “right to be forgotten” for them. Removing a record here also would not remove it from the source — if the underlying record is suppressed at the agency, the change flows through to us automatically.
