Local Law 26 of 2004 (NYC Admin. Code 28-315.2 et seq.)
Local Law 26 of 2004 requires owners of office buildings (Occupancy Group E) 100 feet or more in height to retrofit a full automatic sprinkler system, with a final compliance deadline of July 1, 2019. Owners had to file periodic interim reports (Owner's Affidavit in 2005, 7-year report in 2011, 14-year report in 2018) plus a final compliance report by July 1, 2019, and owners who fail to file an acceptable report are subject to civil penalties (set by a 2021 DOB rule at $5,000 per year, accruing from January 1, 2022 until an acceptable report is filed).
