NYC Building Code (NYC Administrative Code Title 28, Construction Codes), Chapter 11 — Accessibility
Chapter 11 of the NYC Building Code (codified within NYC Administrative Code Title 28, the Construction Codes) sets the city's design-and-construction accessibility requirements for new buildings and alterations, requiring buildings and facilities to be designed and constructed accessible in accordance with the code and the referenced standard ICC A117.1-2009 (Section 1101.2). It governs accessible routes (Section 1104) and accessible entrances (Section 1105), and defines accessible dwelling/sleeping unit classifications — Accessible, Type B, and the NYC-specific Type B+NYC — for covered residential and commercial construction (Section 1107).
