NYC Noise Code

NYC Administrative Code Title 24, Chapter 2 (§§ 24-201 et seq.); Local Law 113 of 2005 — New York City Noise Control Code

The New York City Noise Control Code, codified in Chapter 2 of Title 24 of the NYC Administrative Code (§ 24-201 et seq.) and substantially revised by Local Law 113 of 2005, is administered by the Department of Environmental Protection and sets citywide noise standards. It restricts construction to weekdays 7 a.m.–6 p.m. (with after-hours and weekend authorizations under § 24-223) and requires each construction site to adopt and implement a site-specific noise mitigation plan (§ 24-220) following DEP-prescribed mitigation methods. The Code also establishes sound-level and decibel-based standards for various noise sources elsewhere in the chapter.
