OSHA PPE Criteria — Proper Fit (1926.95)

29 CFR 1926.95

Requires that personal protective equipment used in construction be provided, used, and maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition, generally at the employer's expense at no cost to employees. A 2024 OSHA final rule (89 FR 100346, published Dec 12, 2024) amended paragraph (c) to explicitly require that PPE be selected to ensure it properly fits each affected employee, aligning the construction standard with OSHA's general industry (29 CFR 1910.132) and shipyard (29 CFR 1915.152) PPE standards; the amendment took effect January 13, 2025.
