OSHA Fall Protection Duty (1926.501)
29 CFR 1926.501
Requires employers to protect each construction employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge 6 feet or more above a lower level by guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. The section also sets fall-protection duties for leading edges, low-slope and steep roofs, holes, wall openings, ramps and runways, and excavations; all fall protection required by this section must conform to the criteria for the protective systems set out at 29 CFR 1926.502.
