OSHA Scaffold General Requirements (1926.451)

29 CFR 1926.451

Sets the general capacity, platform construction, access, fall-protection, and use requirements for scaffolds in construction. Each scaffold and scaffold component must support, without failure, its own weight plus at least 4 times the maximum intended load applied or transmitted to it; scaffolds must be designed by a qualified person and constructed and loaded in accordance with that design. Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet above a lower level must be protected from falling by guardrail systems and/or personal fall arrest systems.
