The New York City Fire Code, codified as Chapter 2 of Title 29 of the Administrative Code and re-enacted by Local Law 47 of 2022, governs fire prevention, fire protection systems, hazardous materials, and emergency preparedness in new and existing buildings and businesses. The 2022 Fire Code took effect April 15, 2022 and added a regulatory framework for stationary energy storage systems (battery technologies); it remains the current active version.
