NYC Fire Code (Admin. Code Title 29, Ch. 2) FC 901 — Fire Protection Systems, General
NYC Fire Code Section 901 (General) requires fire protection systems — including sprinklers, standpipes, fire pumps, and fire alarm/detection systems — to be inspected, tested, serviced, and otherwise maintained in accordance with the Fire Code, FDNY rules, and the referenced standards in FC Table 901.6.1, with required maintenance records kept under FC 901.6.2 (per FC 107.7). Under FC 901.7 (Out-of-Service Systems), any person aware of a condition rendering a standpipe, sprinkler, or fire alarm system inoperable must notify the owner and the building's designated impairment coordinator, who must take steps to protect occupants and promptly restore the system to service.
