Suffolk County Sanitary Code, Article 19 (§§ 760-1901 to 760-1911)
Suffolk County Department of Health Services regulation (acting as Responsible Management Entity) establishing the I/A OWTS Management Program for innovative and alternative onsite wastewater treatment systems — nitrogen-reducing septic technologies that under the Department's promulgated performance standards must treat effluent to total nitrogen at or below 19 mg/L. Article 19 requires every property owner with an I/A OWTS to register it with the Department and to maintain an active Operation and Maintenance Contract with a provider holding a Suffolk County Liquid Waste License and Endorsement K (§760-1906), and provides for periodic inspections, effluent sampling, reporting, recordkeeping, corrective action, and enforcement. It governs ongoing owner compliance after an I/A OWTS is installed under Sanitary Code Articles 5 and 6.
