42 U.S.C. § 3604(f)(3)(C)
Requires covered multifamily dwellings—buildings of 4 or more units—designed and constructed for first occupancy after March 13, 1991 to meet seven accessibility features: an accessible building entrance on an accessible route; accessible and usable public and common-use areas; doors wide enough for wheelchair passage; an accessible route into and through the dwelling; light switches, outlets, thermostats, and environmental controls in accessible locations; reinforced bathroom walls for later grab-bar installation; and usable kitchens and bathrooms allowing wheelchair maneuverability. In non-elevator buildings of 4+ units these requirements apply to ground-floor units; in buildings with one or more elevators they apply to all units.
