HUD ABA Residential Standards (UFAS)

24 CFR Part 40

Implements the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968 for HUD-covered residential structures by adopting the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) as the standard for the design, construction, and alteration of publicly owned residential structures, so that persons with disabilities have ready access to and use of those structures. It applies to residential structures covered by the Act except those on military installations (which are handled by the Department of Defense). Relevant to developers and owners of publicly owned and federally funded multifamily and public housing.
