Westchester County Sanitary Code, Ch. 873, Art. VII (Water Supplies), §§ 873.700–873.715
Article VII (Water Supplies) of the Westchester County Sanitary Code (Chapter 873) governs water supplies in the county. It requires that any water for domestic use be potable and meet State Sanitary Code drinking-water standards (§ 873.701), and requires prior Department of Health review and approval of plans and completed works for public, private, and individual water supply systems before they are constructed or placed in service (§§ 873.707–873.709). For premises not served by a public water supply, an application for a private water supply must show no public supply is available or feasible, and the Department reviews the construction of individual water-supply wells and may prohibit use of any system until satisfied it produces adequate, satisfactory-quality water.
