Westchester County Health Department Rules and Regulations for the Design and Construction of Residential Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems and Drilled Wells in Westchester County, New York (eff. Apr. 1, 2022)
Effective April 1, 2022, these Westchester County Department of Health rules (formerly the "Green Book"), adopted under Chapter 873 of the Laws of Westchester County, set the technical design and construction standards for residential onsite wastewater treatment systems (OWTS/septic) receiving under 1,000 gallons per day and for private drilled wells. They apply the New York State standards in 10 NYCRR Part 75 Appendix 75-A (wastewater) and Part 5, Subpart 5-1, Appendix 5-B (water wells) subject to stricter county modifications, governing percolation/soil testing, sewage design flows and system sizing, separation/restrictive distances, and well siting and construction.
