NY Good Cause Eviction Law (2024 Budget Bill)
NY enacted statewide Good Cause Eviction in the 2024 budget (RPL § 226-C). Applies by default in NYC; other municipalities must opt-in. Limits evictions to enumerated causes, caps rent increases at CPI+5% or 10% (whichever lower) absent justification. Numerous municipalities (Kingston, Albany, Newburgh, Poughkeepsie, Beacon) have opted in.
