19 NYCRR Part 1219 is the umbrella regulation defining the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code (Uniform Code), adopted by the NYS Department of State's State Fire Prevention and Building Code Council under Article 18 of the Executive Law. It establishes that the Uniform Code consists of Parts 1220-1229 (Residential, Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Fire Prevention, Property Maintenance, Existing Buildings, Rail Stations, and Other Uniform Code Provisions) and the publications incorporated by reference into them — the 2020 New York State code books, which are based on the 2018 ICC I-Codes with state amendments. The 2020 code books have been the operative Uniform Code, applicable statewide except in the City of New York (which maintains its own construction codes), since May 12, 2020, with no transition period.
