Fire extinguishing system required for certain buildings

Conn. Gen. Stat. § 29-315 (formerly Sec. 29-44c)

Requires an approved automatic fire-extinguishing (sprinkler) system on each floor of specified buildings, including any building of more than four stories used for human occupancy, hotels and motels of more than four stories, and residential buildings of more than four stories occupied primarily by elderly persons (defined as at least 80% of units having a resident aged 65 or older). A person who fails to install a required system is subject to a civil penalty of not more than $1,000 for each day the violation continues, recoverable in a civil action by the Attorney General at the State Fire Marshal's request.
