Conn. Gen. Stat. § 29-305 (formerly Sec. 29-52)
Each local fire marshal must inspect, or cause to be inspected, at least once each calendar year or as often as the State Fire Marshal prescribes, all buildings and facilities of public service and all occupancies regulated by the Fire Safety Code or State Fire Prevention Code within the marshal's jurisdiction. Residential buildings designed to be occupied by one or two families are excepted, except that upon complaint or request of an owner or occupant they are inspected only to determine compliance with the smoke detection and warning equipment requirements of those codes.
