40 CFR Part 280
Sets design, construction, installation, notification, operation, release-detection, and corrective-action requirements for underground storage tank (UST) systems holding petroleum or hazardous substances. Owners must notify the implementing agency of a UST system within 30 days of bringing it into use (40 CFR 280.22) and meet release-detection and spill/overfill prevention standards; EPA's 2015 revisions (effective October 13, 2015) added secondary containment requirements for new and replaced tanks and piping and operator-training requirements.
