40 CFR Part 262
Implements the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) standards for hazardous waste generators, classifying them by monthly waste quantity as very small (VSQG), small (SQG), or large quantity generators (LQG) with corresponding on-site accumulation time limits — 90 days for large quantity generators and 180 days for small quantity generators (270 days if shipping more than 200 miles). Generators must make a hazardous waste determination, obtain an EPA identification number (SQGs and LQGs; VSQGs are exempt), comply with on-site accumulation and container standards, and use a manifest to track hazardous waste shipped off-site.
