HMDL Cyclical Inspection

N.J.S.A. 55:13A-13

Each hotel and multiple dwelling must be inspected by the Commissioner of Community Affairs to determine compliance with the Hotel and Multiple Dwelling Law (P.L.1967, c.76) and its regulations, and owners must pay statutory inspection fees. The cyclical inspection schedule is tiered by prior abatement history (P.L.2019, c.202): a multiple dwelling with no violations or all violations abated by the first reinspection is reinspected in seven years; abated by the second or third reinspection, five years; not abated by the third reinspection, two years. Hotels are inspected at least once every five years.
