N.J.A.C. 5:10-28.1
Single-station carbon monoxide alarms must be installed and maintained in the immediate vicinity of the sleeping area in every guestroom or dwelling unit in buildings (hotels and multiple dwellings) that contain a fuel-burning appliance or have an attached garage. Alarms must be listed/labeled to UL 2034 and may be battery-operated, hard-wired, or of the plug-in type. On request of a tenant in whose unit a deaf or hearing-impaired person resides, the owner must provide and install a visual-alarm-type carbon monoxide detector.
