Uniform Fire Safety Act

N.J.S.A. 52:27D-192 et seq.

The Uniform Fire Safety Act (P.L. 1983, c.383) establishes a uniform fire safety code throughout New Jersey to protect life and property from fire hazards. It authorizes the Commissioner of Community Affairs to adopt and enforce the Uniform Fire Code (N.J.A.C. 5:70) and allows municipalities to adopt an ordinance designating a local enforcing agency; where none is designated, the Department of Community Affairs enforces directly.
