Requires automatic fire alarm systems to be installed in accordance with the New Jersey Uniform Construction Code, with supervision required for certain use groups. Effective September 3, 2017, carbon monoxide detection equipment must be installed in all existing buildings that contain a fuel-burning appliance or have an attached garage; for Group I-1, R-1, and R-2 occupancies (e.g., hotels, motels, and multiple dwellings), CO detection must be installed in the immediate vicinity of each sleeping area in every guestroom or dwelling unit.
