Rehabilitation Subcode Applicability

N.J.A.C. 5:23-6.2

Establishes how New Jersey's Rehabilitation Subcode (N.J.A.C. 5:23-6) governs the repair, renovation, alteration, reconstruction, change of use, and addition to existing buildings statewide. The construction official classifies all work into one or more of six categories, each carrying its own (graduated) requirements. Under subsection (c), the only requirements of the other UCC subcodes that apply to rehabilitation work are those specifically set forth in this subchapter, so existing buildings are not required to meet full new-construction standards.
