Regulation Z's loan-originator rule for closed-end consumer credit secured by a dwelling. It prohibits compensating a loan originator based on a transaction's terms (other than the amount of credit extended), bars dual compensation where a consumer-paid originator also receives compensation from any other person, prohibits steering consumers to loans that increase originator compensation unless in the consumer's interest, and imposes loan-originator qualification requirements (SAFE Act licensing/registration, background checks), NMLSR unique-identifier identification on loan documents, and written policies/recordkeeping requirements for depository institutions.
