NY State Fire Code (FCNYS)

19 NYCRR Part 1225

Part 1225 of the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code incorporates by reference the Fire Code of New York State (FCNYS), which governs fire prevention and the safe storage, handling, and use of materials, along with fire-protection and life-safety provisions, hazardous-materials handling, means of egress, and the construction, extension, repair, alteration, and removal of fire-suppression and alarm systems for all buildings, structures, premises, and processes statewide except within the City of New York. The current edition is the 2025 FCNYS, effective December 31, 2025, which replaced the 2020 FCNYS.
