9 NYCRR § 466.14

Adopted by the NYS Division of Human Rights under Executive Law § 295.5 and effective May 18, 2016, this regulation provides that wherever "unlawful discriminatory practice" appears in the Human Rights Law, it prohibits discrimination against an individual because of that individual's known relationship or association with a member or members of a protected category. To prevail, a complainant must show they were subjected to an adverse action under the relevant provisions of the Human Rights Law because of that known relationship or association, applying across the areas the Human Rights Law covers, including housing.
