ABA Accessibility Guidelines (36 CFR 1191)

36 CFR Part 1191

U.S. Access Board accessibility guidelines, issued under both the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. 12204) and the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 4151 et seq.), consolidated in one CFR part. They set scoping and technical requirements (ADA scoping in Appendix B, ABA scoping in Appendix C, shared technical standards in Appendix D) for new construction and alterations. The ABA portion forms the basis for enforceable ABA Accessibility Standards adopted by GSA, DoD, and USPS for facilities designed, built, altered, or leased with federal funds; HUD has not adopted these standards and continues to apply UFAS to housing under its jurisdiction.
